Due to the terraced nature of the building site, the construction of a solid base was required
to ensure that the building floor be level. The accompanying drawing markes the placement of the
supporting posts for the shed's base and the roll-off roof structure. The arrow points at the
hole for the concrete foundation of the steel pier.
Initial sketches for the steel pier and an adapter plate to connect to a Meade Ultra-Wedge.
The observatory shed is a standard wooden garden shed with colour steel roof,
built and supplied by Fencescape of Petone. The measurements of the chosen "Dunstan" model
are 2.70 m by 2.79 m with a wall height of 1.80 m. More information on Fencescape
